Compilation Issue

Hi,
Upon compilation of the project , I get the following error-: 1.relocation R_X86_64_32 against `.rodata' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
lbl-master/.objects/lbl_mem.o: error adding symbols: Bad value

I am not much of a systems person, can you please help me understand what is causing the issue. I defined a variable COMPILE_FLAGS =-fPIC in make.inc and modified CCOMPILE = $(CC) $(COMPILE_FLAGS) $(CFLAGS), but that does not seem to work either.

Also, on downloading MA27, i noticed that there is not file named ma27ad.f, instead just ma27d.f . Is renaming ma27d.f a correct solution?
